A couple that became more than clients, but close friends. Haley and Josiah were such amazing people to work with. From our initial meeting, they knew what wedding photo package they wanted but were open to suggestions. They wanted to include video as well as photos. I partnered up with Sorcery Cinema, and they provided me with a film student to capture everything on that day.
They chose to have their ceremony location at Still Waters Ranch Wedding & Event Venue in Colorado Springs. A beautiful piece of land overlooking a field of tall grass and rustic home -style decor scattered across the entire property. A Colorado wedding photographer's dream! The wedding coordinator, Jenna Jennings, organized every step of the day. From planning the moment of arrival, updates during the day when things change, and when to eat, I couldn't have done it without her.
One could say this was your typical wedding day, but it was so much more than a ceremony; it was a vibrant celebration of the profound love that Haley and Josiah share for one another. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as I began the day by capturing the classic "getting ready" photos for both the bride and groom. This particular shoot was especially enjoyable because, for Josiah, this day felt akin to "game day." To encapsulate that spirit, I focused on capturing him and his groomsmen in a way that mirrored athletes walking down a tunnel, filled with camaraderie and energy. Let me tell you, he absolutely nailed it!
After that exhilarating start, we transitioned to detail shots, meticulously photographing their wedding rings alongside cherished mementos they had brought along to symbolize their journey together thus far. These items were not just mere decorations; they were tokens of memories, each one holding a significant place in their hearts that they would cherish for the rest of their lives together as a married couple. Following this, we gathered the entire wedding party for a lively session of photos, showcasing everyone dressed to the nines, radiating joy and elegance.
The wedding ceremony itself was nothing short of spectacular. As I stood there, I found myself struggling to hold back tears while listening to the heartfelt vows that Haley and Josiah exchanged. Their words were filled with sincerity and emotion, capturing the essence of their love and commitment to one another. Even though the cold weather lingered throughout the day, it was as if the sun decided to make a grand entrance just at the moment they said, "I DO," casting a warm glow over the proceedings and enhancing the magic of the moment.
Throughout the day, the weather remained overcast and slightly chilly, conditions that might have dampened the spirits of lesser couples. However, Haley and Josiah approached the day with unwavering positivity and joy.
As the ceremony concluded, it was time for all the family members and guests to gather and share their moments with the newlyweds. It took about 20 minutes to ensure that every single member of Haley and Josiah's extensive family had their time in the spotlight, and let me tell you, they have a big family! Not one person was left out, and it was heartwarming to see the connections and love shared among all the attendees. The party was extended to the barn for the reception. The bridal party made their entrance to all the family and guests in attendance. Followed by the couple of hours!
The day drew to a close with a send-off involving blowing bubbles, creating a magical atmosphere filled with laughter and joy. Cheers erupted from all their friends and loved ones! It was the perfect conclusion to an already perfect day, encapsulating the love, laughter, and unforgettable memories that would last a lifetime. On to the afterparty!
